Match Day. It’s the day all graduating medical students look forward to and perhaps one of the most important days of their career as they learn where they will continue their training.

More than a thousand students from across the country applied to join the pediatric residency program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. On Friday, the National Resident Matching Program announced who will join Johns Hopkins All Children’s in July 2018 as the next class of residents:

  • Kelleen Boehlke, University of Wisconsin
  • Caitlin Brown, University of Florida
  • Erika Cohen, University of Central Florida
  • Sarah Czack, University of Kentucky
  • Shannon Glenn, University of Miami
  • Krishma Kumar, Temple University

  • Janika Prajapati, University of Texas Medical Branch
  • Johnae Snell, University of Texas Medical Branch
  • Miriam Tudyk, Indiana University
  • Sehrish Viqar, Medical College of Georgia
  • Melissa White, University of Texas

“Match Day is a celebration of a community attracting young professionals from across the country and the world. It is a celebration of the advancement of our current residents and a celebration of our institution as an academic center,” says Raquel Hernandez, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, director of medical education and pediatric residency program director at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and assistant professor of pediatrics for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

The new chief residents were also announced. Nicole Nghiem, M.D., will serve as chief resident for the 2018-2019 academic year followed by Anna Petrella, M.D., and Alyssa Woodard, M.D., for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The pediatric residency program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s started in 2014. As the second class of residents graduate this June, the incoming students will mark the fifth class of residents to join the program.

To celebrate Match Day, some of our current residents offer tips to the incoming class and wish them a warm welcome.
