Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Cora's Story

Pediatric Care in Florida

Cora's Courage

“Cancer” is a word no parent ever wants to hear. But when spirited toddler Cora was nearing her second birthday, a visit to her pediatrician would lead to news that would change this family forever.

Since the day she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), Cora and her parents have been in the battle of their lives — but they have a true friend in the fight.

Doctors, nurses, and a host of others in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute are dedicated to healing children. And they are fighting for Cora.

“We are very lucky to have Dr. Mayer, and she is lucky to have such a good team behind her. We are thankful for Johns Hopkins All Children’s and everybody that works there. Everybody.”
Steve — Cora’s dad

“I think the most important thing we have to offer our patients is to care about them. To care, not just about the disease, but about the child in total …”

Jennifer Mayer, M.D. Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist
