Emma Cahoon, R.N., on the Surgical Neuroscience unit, is the DAISY Award recipient. She was nominated for this honor by a parent who wrote:
“Emma is empathetic and patient. She went out of her way on numerous occasions to check on our son even when she wasn’t assigned to him. My son is autistic and requires extra time and attention – Emma really listened to him, made sure his pain was controlled post-surgery and that his anxiety was under control. He asks for Emma now because of the amazing relationship and trust they have built. She is a wonderful person and we are blessed that she helps take care of our son.”
Emma’s manager added:
“Emma has been a clinical nurse on the unit for two years. As a graduate of the R.N. Residency Program, she continually strives for excellence and safe patient care. Emma always seeks out new experiences, and balances a complex patient assignment with positivity and a smile. She is kind and sensitive to meet the needs of her patients and families, and is frequently requested and recognized for her level-headed attitude in all circumstances. We are so lucky to have Emma as part of the Surgical Neurosciences family!”
Congratulations, Emma, and thank you for your commitment to patient- and family-centered care.
