Sable Fennell, R.N., a clinical nurse on the Pediatric Medicine Unit (8 North and South), is our September 2017 DAISY Winner. She was nominated by a mom whose son spent several nights in Sable’s care.
The grateful parent wrote:
“She was also super-efficient, always making sure to come in before his IV bag needed to be changed or to start the next infusion so the beeping wouldn’t wake him up. I explained that my son tends to have night terrors, especially in surroundings he’s not used to, and Sable took great care when she would come in to take his vitals, calming him down if he startled. The night terrors made him move so much that he kept setting off the IV alarm, and Sable created a little makeshift splint so he wouldn’t bend his elbow.”
The parent added,
“The first words that come to mind when I think of Sable are compassion, integrity and sincerity. Sable personifies the core values of JHACH through the everyday approach that she takes in providing care to her patients. Sable embraces our patients and families with warmth and kindness, fostering an environment of trust and mutual respect. As a JHACH nurse, Sable goes above and beyond to ensure that her patients receive exceptional health care, but it is the time and attention that she invests that makes them feel like they are a part of our family. I thank Sable for the extraordinary care that she provides and the emphasis she places on ensuring our patients and families have the best experience possible.”
