A Lightning Strike with Positive Results

Posted on Apr 30, 2021

Julie’s week has been stressful. Son Jai had surgery at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and Julie has been on edge.

She pulls on her favorite Tampa Bay Lightning shirt with no idea what’s next.

Some hospital staff stops by with an offer: Would Jai like to have a virtual visit with Lightning forward Mathieu Joseph?

“It was one of the best moments we’ve had in a long time,” Julie says. “Mathieu put Jai in better spirits after his surgery. This will be a moment in our lives that we won't forget! We have a new favorite Lightning player.”

“This was my first experience doing a visit on Zoom,” Joseph says. “It was great to meet all the kids and their parents. They all had positive attitudes, which told me a lot about their character. It’s not an easy situation for them, so if we can brighten up their day, it’s a good thing.”

Credit Joseph with scoring that goal.
