Institute for Clinical and Translational Research

Center for Pediatric Clinical/Translational Research Education, Training and Engagement

The Center for Pediatric Clinical and Translational Research Education, Training and Engagement serves as an education and training resource to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital principal investigators, sub-investigators and their study team members on best practices for conducting clinical research. Resources developed by the Center also yield peer-review scholarship, and programs developed by the Center will facilitate or augment training grant applications.

Education and training initiatives led by the Center to date include:

  • a unique training module (registered on TransCelerate) on operationalizing clinical and translational research principles into best practices in the context of the pediatric clinical research study lifecycle (start-up through manuscript publication);
  • a monthly lecture series that includes numerous research-related topics (the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Seminar Series in Academia);
  • a bimonthly Johns Hopkins All Children’s Research Advisory and Mentorship forum; and
  • advanced didactic and applied (i.e., practicum-based) training and mentorship in pediatric clinical research through the Clinical and Translational Research Training Track, among others.

The Center aims to increase clinician engagement by providing a detailed understanding of the process for opening a protocol and conducting research at Johns Hopkins All Children’s, an understanding of core services that exist to support research and how and when to engage those services, and by facilitating a connection to a community of peers and mentors also conducting research at Johns Hopkins All Children’s through engagement task forces.
