Johns Hopkins All Children's CRIB / MDC

Policies and Disclosures

The MDC uses a standard set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for preparation of various biological samples.  If users have other appropriate sample preparation protocols that they prefer for their samples they will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Careful sample clean-up is necessary to protect the cleanliness and functioning of the LC-MS systems.

Sample Storage & Retrieval

Samples submitted to the CRIB will be stored in a -80 °C freezer unless otherwise directed.  After analysis researchers have 90 days after project completion for complementary storage of samples.  After 90 days, a storage fee will be assessed.  Samples may be safely disposed of by the MDC or return to the investigator upon request (shipping not included).

Guidelines for Use of CRIB Resources in Grant Applications & Awards

All grant requests must be made through the Director.  The CRIB/MDC has full grants support package for projects including proteomics, peptidomics, metabolomics and lipidomics.

The CRIB is pleased to offer full support for NIH and other grant applications.  We are here to serve.  Please provide us with sufficient notice so that we may review project feasibility and budgets (typically two weeks).  We have excellent documentation of our methods and our methods have been vetted and refined by the NIH peer-reviewed process..

CRIB-affiliated faculty may also be willing to participate as either a consultant, or collaborator depending on the scope of the proposal.

Please contact us so that we can help.  Your success is our success.

Note: The CRIB/MDC is happy to support grant applications for the community at large.  For projects requiring effort of CRIB/MDC staff (above and beyond core services), a subcontract is required from our grants office.  Please allow up to four weeks for preparation of the sub-contract.  Sub-contracts are subject to a higher F&A rate due to NIH and institutional policies.  For internal JHU investigators, a sub-contract is not required.

For Research Use Only.  Not for use in diagnostic procedures

No data in created in the CRIB/MDC may ever, under any circumstances, be used clinically.  The CRIB is NOT currently certified for any clinical work.  Should preliminary results from the CRIB lead to the development of a clinical study, we can refer you to a certified clinical laboratory through our partnerships.
