Dr. Poquiz is a pediatric psychologist in the Gender Affirming Care Clinic at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. He joined the hospital staff in 2021.
Dr. Poquiz specializes in providing outpatient and interdisciplinary care for transgender and gender diverse youth, as well as for youth with differences in sex development/intersex diagnoses. His research is centered on these populations and focuses on promoting resilience and adapting evidence-based practices to meet these populations’ unique needs.
Dr. Poquiz earned his Doctor of Philosophy in clinical child psychology from the University of Kansas, and a graduate certificate in LGBT health policy and practice from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He completed a doctoral residency in clinical child psychology at Children’s Mercy Kansas City in Missouri, and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Potocsnak Family Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
