Dr. Viola specializes in pediatric anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s and serves as program director of the Johns Hopkins All Children's Pediatric Anesthesia fellowship program. He joined the hospital staff in 2020.
Dr. Viola was previously a pediatric anesthesiologist at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando. Before that, he served as vice chief of pediatric anesthesia in the Division of Anesthesia at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. He was also previously an assistant professor of anesthesiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio, and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
He earned his medical degree from Universita’ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano in Rome. He completed a pediatric residency, then a neonatology fellowship, followed by a residency in anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Universita’ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Policlinico Gemelli Hospital in Rome. He then completed an anesthesiology residency at University of Florida, and a pediatric anesthesiology and critical care medicine fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
His clinical and research interests include simulation and education, neuroanesthesia, anesthesia for spine surgery, and quality improvement in anesthesia.
