Live the Mission

See how everyone at the hospital works together to create healthy tomorrows for all children.

Experience firsthand the life-changing care children receive at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital every day.
With this one-day, invitation-only event, you’ll have the rare opportunity to shadow one of our pediatric medical or surgical specialists and witness the state-of-the-art care we provide.

At this time, there are no scheduled dates for Live the Mission. Please contact [email protected] with questions.

When you register, you’ll be asked to indicate your top three pediatric specialty preferences to shadow. More information about each specialty is provided below.

Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute

You’ll see how our pediatric experts take a whole-team approach to treating cancer and blood disorders, working collaboratively throughout the hospital to provide patients and families with comprehensive care. Learn about the wide range of therapies we offer, including cutting-edge immunotherapy and access to some of the latest clinical trials.

Child Life

See how our Child Life specialists use therapeutic play to help patients and their families cope with illness, injury, treatment and hospitalization. Through our activity center, pet therapy program and other services, we work to help children and families reduce fear and stress.

Emergency Medicine

See our Emergency Center, which is staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency medicine specialists 24 hours a day, every day. Our Emergency Center team treats more than 48,000 patients a year, for injuries and illnesses ranging from broken bones to concussions to severe asthma or abdominal pain.

Institute for Brain Protection Sciences

See how our team works together to provide collaborative, high-quality care for our patients in the hospital and through follow-up and rehabilitation. The institute is one of only a handful of programs that focuses on all aspects of pediatric brain care, from complex pediatric neurosurgical procedures to protocols for dealing with mental health challenges.

Maternal, Fetal & Neonatal Institute

Round with our physicians and care providers in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) as they care for premature and medically complex newborns. Our 97-bed NICU is recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics as one that provides the highest level of care.

Pediatric Medicine/Hospitalist Program

Our hospitalist team practices exclusively in the hospital setting, caring for patients from birth to age 21 with a variety of medical conditions. You’ll spend the morning with the physicians, and round with the Johns Hopkins All Children’s residents to get a first-hand look at how we’re training the next generation of pediatric physicians.

Research

Researchers at Johns Hopkins All Children’s are working to discover new information about the origins of disease and develop evidence-based therapies that will change the future of children’s health. Learn how we’re pursuing our mission to bring important research to all areas of pediatric medicine, from the basic science level with the Institute for Fundamental Biomedical Research and continuing through our Clinical and Translational Research Organization.
