Our Heart Institute treats children for the full range of pediatric cardiac conditions, from common to complex, and provide diagnostic services. For children who may need heart surgery or interventional cardiology services, which are performed at our main hospital location in St. Petersburg, we work closely with the heart surgery and interventional cardiology teams to create a treatment plan that meets your child’s needs.

Daniel Mauriello, MD

Cardiology - Pediatric

Dr. Mauriello is a pediatric cardiologist who treats children with congenital heart disease and has expertise in fetal, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. After graduating from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, he completed a residency in pediatric and adolescent medicine and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, located at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His research interests include clinical outcomes and quality improvement measures.

Ashish Shah, MD MBA

Cardiology - Pediatric

Dr. Shah specializes in pediatric cardiology, is co-director of patient safety and quality in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute, and co-chair of the Heart Institute Patient Safety & Quality committee. His areas of focus include noninvasive imaging, general pediatric cardiology and quality improvement. In the 2022 Johns Hopkins Medicine Clinical Awards, Dr. Shah, Dr. James Quintessenza and the Heart Institute Flight Plan won the Innovations in Clinical Care Award for Johns Hopkins All Children’s. Previously he was a pediatric cardiologist with Phoenix Children’s Heart Center, where he was co-director for the Cardiac High Acuity Monitoring Program for Infants and Newborns (CHAMPION) and site leader for the National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative. Dr. Shah worked to develop and implement newborn pulse oximetry screening for critical congenital heart disease in newborns across the state and served on the Arizona Department of Health’s Newborn Screening Committee. He was also the physician volunteer for the Nick and Kelly Heart Camp.

Christopher Talluto, MD

Cardiology - Adult

Dr. Talluto is a cardiologist in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Heart Institute. He joined the hospital staff in 2021. He specializes in adults with congenital heart defects and adolescents who are transitioning into adult care. Previously, he was an adult congenital cardiologist and a pediatric cardiologist at Fairfax Inova Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia, where he was head of the adult congenital heart disease program and co-director of the exercise physiology lab.

Courtney Wein, DO

Cardiology - Pediatric

Dr. Courtney Wein specializes in pediatric and fetal cardiology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. She sees patients primarily at the Outpatient Care location in Tampa. She joined the hospital staff in 2020. Dr. Wein earned her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. She then completed a residency in pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, followed by a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami with additional training in fetal echocardiography at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in New York City. Her clinical interests include fetal cardiology, preventative medicine and neurodevelopment in children with congenital heart disease.

Jeremy Ramey, MD

Cardiology - Pediatric

Dr. Ramey is a general pediatric cardiologist who provides inpatient and outpatient care for children with congenital heart disease. He completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, New York and Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at New York Presbyterian, where he also served as chief pediatric cardiology fellow. He received his medical degree from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia and completed his pediatric residency at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
