About  

Dr. Danielson became chair of the Johns Hopkins All Children's Department of Surgery in 2020 after serving in that role on an interim basis beginning in December 2018. He specializes in general surgery and was an early adopter of minimally invasive surgical techniques, developing expertise in treating chest wall deformities. He founded the first fellowship sponsored by Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in pediatric surgery and was also instrumental in bringing the National Quality Improvement in Surgery Program to the institution. Dr. Danielson was named Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital physician of the year in the 2015 Johns Hopkins Medicine Clinical Excellence Awards and in 2017 was named director of innovative training and education. He joined the hospital staff in 2008.

Dr. Danielson is an associate professor of surgery in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He retired as a colonel from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2017 after serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Dr. Danielson earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester where he also completed the residency program in general surgery. He completed a research fellowship in pediatric surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and a clinical fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  Before joining Johns Hopkins All Children’s, he served as director of pediatric surgical oncology at the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Dawkins is medical director of the Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Clinics in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Department of Pediatric Medicine, seeing patients as a pediatrician in St. Petersburg, Florida. She also is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Dawkins is active nationally with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatrics. Her research and teaching interests are in childhood resilience, advocacy, resident education and obesity.

She earned her medical degree at the University of Miami. She completed her residency at Louisiana State University, where she also completed a year as chief resident. As a faculty member at LSU, Dr. Dawkins spent six years as an associate program director for the pediatric residency program.

Dr. Decker is a pediatric cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiomyopathies and heart failure. He offers innovative and minimally invasive techniques to benefit patients at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute. Before joining All Children’s, Dr. Decker was an assistant professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, where he completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology, an advanced fellowship in heart failure/transplantation, and an advanced fellowship in pediatric electrophysiology at Baylor College of Medicine. A graduate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, New Jersey, Dr. Decker did his pediatric residency training at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Devanesan has practiced in the St. Petersburg area for 10 years and has been active in graduate medical education training at local hospitals. A graduate of the University of South Florida College of Medicine and its residency program in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Devanesan received the Overall Outstanding Teaching Resident Award for 2000. She joined OB/GYN Associates (now Johns Hopkins All Children's Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialists) in 2001.

Dr. Deveikis specializes in interventional neuroradiology in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Institute for Brain Protection Sciences. He previously worked for the hospital from 2010-2014 before four years as a professor of neurosurgery and radiology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He rejoined the medical staff in 2018. Dr. Deveikis is based on the Johns Hopkins All Children’s main campus in St. Petersburg but also has privileges at AdventHealth Tampa.

His areas of interest include researching ways to make neurointerventional techniques more effective and safer, application of perfusion imaging techniques to neurovascular conditions to tailor interventions based on perfusion data, and avoidance of complications based on modifications of technique and patient selection.

Dr. Deveikis earned his medical degree at University of Massachusetts Medical School where he was also chief resident of radiology. He completed fellowships in neuroradiology at Georgetown University Medical Center and London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital at the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. DiBartolomeo earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She trained in pediatrics and completed a neonatology fellowship at University of Chicago, Comer Children’s Hospital. While at the University of Chicago, Dr. DiBartolomeo concurrently completed a clinical medical ethics fellowship through the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. During her training she completed a pediatrics and neonatology rotation at Amrita Institute in Kerala, India, and a neonatology elective at Kijabe Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya.

Additionally, she holds a Master of Public Health from Nova Southeastern University and has completed internships in Washington, D.C., both on Capitol Hill and at a political think tank.

Her clinical and research interests include clinical medical ethics, neonatal palliative care and ethical issues at the margins of viability.
