About the DAISY Foundation

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an auto-immune disease. During his hospital stay, the nurses provided such extraordinary care that the Barnes family created the DAISY Award that continues to recognize great nurses around the country.
