The Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy program at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital offers emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families while honoring all religious beliefs and worldviews.

Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is a free service designed to provide spiritual and/or emotional support for patients and their loved ones. Our clinically-trained, professional chaplains are available for people of all traditions and worldviews, both religious and nonreligious. With deep respect for your beliefs, a chaplain will walk beside you on your journey and help you discover your strengths, resources and connections that are meaningful to you.

Services Available

Our chaplains provide a wide variety of services, including:

  • A calming presence and emotional/spiritual support during times of crisis
  • A listening ear at any point during your stay
  • Arranging for faith-specific rites and rituals, such as baptisms or blessings
  • Assisting patients 18 and older to understand and complete an Advance Directive
  • Bereavement support
  • Helping families explore medical ethical issues
  • Prayer and supportive conversation with patients and families
  • Providing prayer rugs, Sabbath candles, rosaries, Bibles, or other religious, spiritual or inspirational items

Interfaith Chapel

Our interfaith chapel is located on the hospital’s first floor, near the gift shop, and is open 24 hours, seven days a week. Throughout the year, you’ll see decorations to celebrate a variety of holidays that reflect the diversity of our families and employees.

Reflection Garden

Behind the chapel, you’ll discover a small, landscaped area with benches. Feel free to enjoy this sunny, plant-filled space.

Our chaplains are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. You can request a chaplain visit by asking your nurse or by calling 727-767-4258.

Chaplains are available after hours for emergencies. Contact your nurse to request an emergency chaplain visit after hours.
