Meet Our Team

Mary Pavan, M.D. Pediatric Developmental Medicine

Dr. Pavan is the medical director of the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Cleft and Craniofacial Center. She earned her medical degree at Harvard Medical School and completed pediatric residency at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, Case Western Reserve and at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center, Washington, D.C. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. Dr. Pavan is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, working with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Cathy Conley, RN, CPSN

Cathy Conley, RN, CPSN Nursing/Team Coordinator

Cathy is our Team Nurse Coordinator. She is a former President of the Florida Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Association and has over 20 years of experience coordinating care for children with cleft and craniofacial diagnoses. She has long been a resource and educator for area hospitals, physicians, teachers, nurses and parents. Her training and experience enable her to quickly determine how to best access the care your child needs as well as provide education, feeding assistance, referrals and insurance coordination.


Michael Gallant, M.D. Plastic Surgery

Dr. Gallant has helped Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital patients with cleft palate and many other medical problems for more than 30 years. Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, he has operated on more than 4,000 patients at Johns Hopkins All Children's over more than three decades. A graduate of Yale Medical School, he came to Johns Hopkins All Children's upon completing his fellowship training in pediatric plastic surgery at Case Western Reserve University and founded the cleft palate program at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.

S. Alex Rottgers, M.D. Plastic Surgery

Dr. Rottgers practices in the pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery programs and is chief of the division of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. His areas of special interest are vascular anomalies and in the treatment of cleft and craniofacial conditions including cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, hemifacial microsomia, microtia, and other abnormalities of the face and jaw.

Ernesto Ruas, M.D. Plastic Surgery

Dr. Ruas specializes in plastic surgery and cleft and craniofacial surgery at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and is the director of plastic surgery resident education. He joined the hospital staff in 1990.

Dr. Lynskey is a pediatric otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat specialist) at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
