Dr. Alvaro specializes in pediatric psychiatry in the Institute for Brain Protection Sciences at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He treats all psychiatric conditions in children and adolescents with a particular interest in ADHD, anxiety disorders and mood disorders. He joined the hospital staff in 1999. Dr. Alvaro also is an affiliate professor in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at the University of South Florida. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida, where he also completed a residency in general adult psychiatry followed by a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.  He served as chief resident during the final year of his fellowship.

Mark Cavitt, MD

Dr. Cavitt is the Medical Director of Pediatric Psychiatry Services and serves as Chair of the Division of Neurology, Psychiatry, Psychology & Developmental Pediatrics. He is board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry as well as general psychiatry. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of South Florida, College of Medicine and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Lake Erie College of Medicine, Bradenton and Instructor in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Medicine.  Dr. Cavitt graduated from the Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee University. His recent awards include Best Doctors of Tampa Bay (2007-2018); Educator of the Year (2015) at the University of South Florida.

Reena Thomas, MD

Reena Thomas, MD

Psychiatry / Psychology
Dr. Thomas is a child and adolescent psychiatrist for the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Institute for Brain Protection Sciences. She joined hospital staff in 2018. Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree from American University of Integrative Sciences. She trained in psychiatry at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, Virginia. Dr. Thomas then completed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.
