Preparing for Your Visit

The steps below will help you as you prepare for your child’s appointment with his or her Johns Hopkins All Children’s care team.

After you have completed an appointment request form, please use the following steps to prepare for your child’s visit:

  1. Send your typed medical records in English, including your child’s current diagnosis, any related films (such as X-ray, MRI, CT scan or ultrasound), and any biopsy or laboratory results.

Please send all the necessary information to the International Patient Services team either by email at achinternationalprogram@jhmi.edu, by fax at 727-767-2196, or to the address below:

    Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital
    Attn: International Program
    601 5th St. South – Suite 213
    St. Petersburg, FL 33701
    U.S.A.

  2. Receive your appointment confirmation. A member of our team will confirm your appointment. We will send you an email includes the name of your child’s doctor, the time, date and location of your appointment, and other information you will need to know before traveling.

  3. Receive a cost estimate and make a deposit. Our international financial coordinator will assist you with obtaining estimates, understanding the billing process, making a deposit, verifying insurance or embassy coverage and delivering a convenient final bill to you.

  4. Make your travel arrangements. Make sure you have necessary travel documents (such as a passport, visa, etc.) as required by your home country and the U.S. Department of State.

Once your child’s appointment has been confirmed, schedule your travel and accommodations. A member of our international care coordinator team can assist you with recommendations and information about the St. Petersburg, Florida, area.

  5. Make sure you have what you need for your child’s visit. Please bring his or her medications, or a detailed list of your child’s medications, if he or she is currently taking any. Please alert the medical staff to any food, environmental or medication allergies.

You should also bring anything that will make your child feel more comfortable, such as a favorite blanket or stuffed animal.
