Personalized care in audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language and feeding services
The rehabilitation team works with our patients to help each child reach his or her full potential, and participate in school and routine childhood activities to the greatest extent possible. We empower families by involving them directly in their child’s care and providing them with education and home exercises from the beginning of their child’s treatment.
Our patients need rehabilitation services for a variety of reasons. Medical conditions, injuries or illness can affect a child’s hearing, speech or motor skills, depending on the condition. Many children who are born prematurely or with special needs may also benefit from rehabilitation services.
After a serious illness or injury, children may lose some of the developmental skills they have already mastered. Our team of audiologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech and feeding therapists are experienced in working with children of all ages with a variety of conditions, including complex medical conditions.
In the Johns Hopkins All Children’s rehabilitation program you will find:
- Licensed clinicians who specialize in pediatrics and are experienced in working with children of all ages
- Direct family involvement in developing functional therapy goals
- Direct family participation in therapy sessions so families can learn to include therapeutic activities in everyday situations
- Close communication and collaboration with physicians, teachers, psychologists, school-based therapists and other professionals to maximize your child’s learning and development
We also provide care closer to home by offering many of our rehabilitation services in the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center on the Johns Hopkins All Children's main campus in St. Petersburg, and throughout our Outpatient Care locations. Learn more about our locations.
