We provide evaluation and treatment for children with voice and resonance disorders.
For children with persistent voice problems, our speech-language pathologists are specially trained to recognize, evaluate and treat pediatric voice and resonance disorders.
We use dynamic digital equipment in our voice laboratory to measure specific aspects of your child’s voice and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Depending on your child’s condition, we also offer X-ray speech studies to evaluate children with resonance and speech sound disorders.
Some common reasons children may be referred for a voice or resonance evaluation include:
- Breathy vocal quality
- Difficulty with volume
- Frequent loss of voice
- Orofacial myofunctional disorders, including tongue thrust
- Persistent hoarseness
- Velopharyngeal dysfunction and hypernasal speech
- Vocal cord dysfunction
- Vocal cord paralysis
- Vocal nodules
- Any unusual voice quality that interferes with being understood
