How has your life changed since participating in Fit4Allteens?

I feel stronger than I did before, and I can run a lot better than I did.

Have you always been active? Do you have any favorite activities other than running?

No, I could barely run the mile in my P.E. class at school.

What inspired you to run the Iron Girl Half Marathon? Do you plan on running more events in the future?

I didn't participate in school sports because I felt awkward running and I didn't want anyone to see me. After joining the running group and seeing all the woman of all shapes and sizes run, it really inspired me. I do plan on continuing to run.

How/why do you stay focused and committed to your health?

It's hard to stay focused on being healthy when I have friends who can eat whatever they want, and there are so many temptations out there. But I like to feel good and I like being able to wear cuter clothes when I'm healthier.

Looking back what were your biggest challenges?

The biggest challenge was getting up early on Saturday mornings, and having to run that far.

What is one thing you would tell a fellow teen who wants to make changes in their life to become more active and fit?

If you set your mind to wanting to be healthy and exercise and eat well, you can do it!

What was the best part of this experience?

I loved being in a group with women that encouraged me and made me feel good about myself, and just the accomplishment of finishing a 1/2 marathon was great!

Would you recommend this to other teens?

Yes, I would tell them what a great experience it was, and how good I felt after I finished running.
