Pediatric cardiologist Monesha Gupta, M.B.B.S., has joined the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute and All Children’s Specialty Physicians. She comes to Johns Hopkins All Children’s after more than a decade on the pediatric cardiology faculty at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and the University of Texas Medical School, Houston, where she was director of advanced cardiac imaging. Her clinical expertise includes multimodality cardiac and vascular imaging.
Dr. Gupta also served as director of pediatric cardiovascular research for Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and the UT-Houston Health Science Center, where she was associate professor of pediatrics and radiology. She completed a pediatric residency at Hurley Medical Center, Michigan State University, Flint and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Society of Echocardiography.
Her research experience includes serving as principal investigator for a five-year NHLBI Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award on the determination of genetics of childhood onset hypertension and co-investigator for the NIH/NHLBI pediatric cardiomyopathy registry (national database). Dr. Gupta is an invited speaker at national and international cardiology conferences and has published more than 50 scientific abstracts, papers, case reports and chapters.
