David M. Berman, D.O.

Dr. Berman joined Johns Hopkins All Children's pediatric infectious disease program in 2001. A graduate of Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Miami, he completed his pediatric residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Schneider Children's Hospital, a campus of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Berman completed his pediatric infectious disease fellowship at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Jackson Medical Center, where he received the University of Miami Fellow Teaching Recognition Award.

Juan A. Dumois III, M.D.

Dr. Dumois is the Clinical Practice Director for Pediatric Infectious Disease and Chairman of the Division of Infectious Disease at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. He joined the Hospital in 1993 as Assistant Director of Pediatric Infectious Disease and became the program director in 2003. He also directs our International Adoption Clinic.
Dr. Dumois received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital/USF, serving as chief resident. He completed his fellowship in pediatric infectious disease at Children's National Medical Center, Washington, D.C. in a joint program with the National Institutes of Health.

Allison Messina, M.D.

Dr. Messina joined Johns Hopkins All Children's pediatric infectious disease program in 2006. A graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, she completed her pediatric residency at University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center/Children's Medical Center, Dallas, followed by a pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at UT/Southwestern Medical Center. She was a staff pediatrician at Children's Medical Center Dallas.

A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Messina is board certified pediatrics and pediatric disease. She is a member of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, the American Society for Microbiology and the Infectious Disease Society of America. Dr. Messina serves as a reviewer for the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal.

Matthew W. Thomas, M.D. FAAP

Dr. Thomas specializes in pediatric infectious diseases in the Department of Medicine. His areas of academic and clinical interests include antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, environmental antimicrobial contamination and the effect on the human microbiome and microbial ecology.

Dr. Thomas joined Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in August 2016, after completing a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Before that, he was chief resident of pediatrics as West Virginia University/Charleston Area Medical Center.
