International Patient Services Program
As international patient demand rapidly grows, Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital plays an integral part in providing alternative access to pediatric healthcare services and a greater geographical reach to diversify patient markets. The International Program at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital drives business development and growth efforts for targeted markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The program brings many international patients. In addition, the staff participates in conferences such as the Arab Health Conference with Johns Hopkins International in Dubai.
Meet Our Team
Leading the team is Roberto Sosa, M.D.
Dr. Sosa was named medical director of Johns Hopkins All Children's International Medicine program in November 2013. Dr. Sosa has represented the program at conferences in Central America and the Caribbean and will continue to travel to help raise our international profile and develop the clinical relationship. Dr. Sosa is also the medical director of Neonatology at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
Julia Beresford is director of the International Program. She is a native of the Caribbean, having worked at Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital for several years in St. Croix of the Virgin Islands. She served as vice president of Quality and Regulatory Affairs, oversaw clinical case management and utilization management, and led quality improvement initiatives.
The senior international care coordinator is Cristina Bozenhardt. Cristina's background is based in case management at United Health Care, and she has had extensive experience in care management within juvenile programs and managed care companies.
Diana Retzer serves as the international financial coordinator. She has been an employee with Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital for several years, working in Patient Access and Admitting and Registration. She provides an invaluable knowledge of Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital's internal culture and processes.
This team is composed of a unique and comprehensive set of experiences and skills in both the domestic and international healthcare setting.
Administratively, the program has a matrix reporting structure between Sylvia Ameen, vice president of Marketing & Communications at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and Burak Malatyali, vice president and chief operating officer at Johns Hopkins International.
