Nutrition

Nutritional Services at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital focus on meeting the nutritional needs of the patient as well as achieving appropriate growth and development. Our pediatric-trained registered dietitians also provide nutrition education and counseling for multiple medical conditions. We work with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, speech therapists, nurses, occupational therapists, and child life services. In addition, we work directly with patients and their families to develop a nutrition plan that will meet the medical and cultural needs of the family.

We provide services to inpatients as well as outpatients. We evaluate patients for risk and provide full assessments, nutrition counseling, formula preparation instructions, education on specific diets, menu analysis and calorie counts, and also evaluate adequacy of development and growth. In addition, we provide follow-up with our patients and their families both inpatient and outpatient to make sure that the nutrition plan is achieving the goals established by the family and dietitian.
