Shin Splints can refer to pain caused by muscle strain, tendonitis, or stress fracture in the Tibia.
Most athletes describe an aching or burning sensation at the mid point of the lower leg that gets worse with exercise.
Because shin splints can be caused by a variety of different problems affecting the same location in the lower leg it is important to have this injury evaluated by a Physician who has knowledge of this difficult condition.
This evaluation will likely include a thorough history of the events leading up to the pain, an evaluation of your lower leg and gait analysis to determine the best course of treatment to get you back in the game.
