Paul Benfanti, M.D.
Orthopaedic Surgeon, AllSports Medicine

Paul L. Benfanti, M.D. began private practice in April 2011 after retiring from the Armed Services. He graduated from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD in 1990. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center Ft. Gordon, GA in 1997 and a  Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Spinal Deformity at the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Greenville, SC in 2001. Dr. Benfanti is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the USF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. Dr. Benfanti is board certified and has been recertified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.He recently retired from the US Army as a Colonel. During his career he served as Orthopaedic Surgery Program Director from 2003-2009 and Chief, Orthopaedic Surgery from 2010-2011 at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, WA. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.

Dr. Benfanti enjoys all aspects of pediatric orthopaedics and has a special interest in sports medicine and hip preservation.

Jamie A. Decker, M.D.
Cardiologist, AllSports Medicine

Jamie A. Decker, M.D. was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital before joining Johns Hopkins All Children’s in March of 2011. He graduated from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, NJ and completed his pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center/George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Decker completed his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. During his cardiology training, he completed an advanced fellowship in heart failure/transplantation. He stayed at Texas Children’s Hospital and completed an advanced fellowship in pediatric electrophysiology. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. Dr. Decker’s areas of clinical expertise include interventional pediatric electrophysiology, cardiomyopathies, and heart failure. His clinical interests include arrhythmias and device therapy in cardiomyopathies and heart failure.

Carlos R. Rodriguez, M.D.

Dr. Irani has recently joined All Children’s Specialty Physicians and the AllSports Medicine program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.
 
Dr. Irani graduated from the University of Florida with an undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences. She then attended Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, FL. She went on to complete a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Florida followed by a Pediatric and Adult Sports Medicine fellowship at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and Bayfront Medical Center. During her fellowship, she served as part of the physician team providing coverage for athletic teams at the University of South Florida and Eckerd College as well as many youth and NCAA events. She currently serves as team physician for Bayshore Christian School and Spoto High School football teams.
 
She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Sports Medicine. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine. She is currently involved in a research study through the Johns Hopkins All Children's Institute for Brain Protection Science that is following a group of youth athletes to learn more about the effects of sports related concussions on a child’s neuropsychiatric, neuropsychological, and cognitive functioning. Her clinical interests include concussions, ACL injuries in soccer players, and overuse injuries in dancers.

Carlos R. Rodriguez, M.D.

Patrick Mularoni, M.D., FAAP, FACEP
Sports Medicine Physician, AllSports Medicine

Dr. Mularoni graduated from Michigan State University with an undergraduate degree in Biology from the Lyman Briggs College of Science. He completed Medical school at the American University of the Caribbean where he achieved honors in his third and fourth year clinical rotations at Ascension Health Hospitals in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Mularoni completed his Pediatric Residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. His Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine was completed in Atlanta, Georgia through Emory University.

While at Emory University, Dr. Mularoni completed research on procedural pain reduction in the emergency setting and was awarded the American Academy of Pediatrics Willis Wingert award for best fellow research. He has continued conducting research at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital looking at best practice for procedural sedation in reduction of Pediatric forearm fractures. His current research interests include concussion management and prognosis in patients with mild traumatic brain injuries. He is the chairman of the Medical Emergency Committee. Dr. Mularoni lectures internationally on Pediatric Emergency and Sports related topics and is a regular contributor to Fox television's Good Day show.

Dr. Mularoni is married to Kim Mularoni who is a Pediatrician in St. Petersburg and together they have three children. During free time, Dr. Mularoni competes in Running, Triathlon and stand up paddle boarding races.

Dr. Rodriguez received his B.A. in Biology from Harvard University in 1989.  He completed his medical degree at the Rosalind Franklin University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, IL in 1993.  Following medical school Dr. Rodriguez completed a general surgery internship at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA.  He then joined the United States Navy where he served as General Medical Officer from 1994 to 1997. After completing his active duty commitment he remained in the United States Naval Reserves until 2002, when he was Honorably Discharged.

Dr. Rodriguez completed his Family Medicine Residency Program at The Medical Center of Central Georgia/Mercer University School of Medicine in 2001, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year.  He then proceeded to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Bayfront Medical Center. After finishing the fellowship program Dr. Rodriguez remained in the Tampa Bay area in private practice, he later joined Community Health Centers of Pinellas and served as Director of the Family Medicine Department until joining the Family Medicine Residency Program at Bayfront.

Dr. Rodriguez has served as a team physician and provided medical coverage for many of our local sports events and teams. These activities include the Tampa Bay Rays, Eckerd College and University of South Florida sports, St. Anthony's Triathlon, Seminole High School, Indian Rocks Christian School and the Tampa Bay Storm. 

Dr. Rodriguez is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, and the Association of Ringside Physicians. His interests include management and treatment of concussions, musculoskeletal ultrasound and platelet rich plasma treatments.

Drew Warnick, M.D.
Orthopaedic Surgeon, AllSports Medicine

Dr. Warnick graduated from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill., followed by a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery and pediatric sports medicine at the Atlanta Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Dr. Warnick was awarded the Charles M. Schwartz traveling fellowship and studied at the Adidas Sports Medicine Clinic in Auckland, New Zealand after finishing his fellowship. Dr. Warnick is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the USF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.

His interests include pediatric sports medicine and problems of the hip in children and adolescents. His specialized training included arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle. He is trained in hip preservation techniques, including those amenable to treatment with surgical dislocation of the hip and the Ganz periacetabular osteotomy.

Dr. Warnick is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and Health Volunteers Overseas. His recent research includes measuring strain in the individual ACL bundles under large quadriceps forces and the arthroscopic treatment of multidirectional shoulder instability in young athletes.

Dr. Warnick enjoys all aspects of pediatric orthopedics and has a special interest in sports medicine and hip preservation.
